A Guide for New Clients
Congrats on booking your first photo shoot! Whether it’s for professional head shots, a family portrait, or a personal branding session, stepping in front of the camera for the first time can feel exciting, nerve-wracking, and maybe even a little surreal. But don’t worry—I’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know to walk into your shoot with confidence and walk out with photos you’ll love.
Before the Shoot:
1. Communication is Key
I will reach out before the shoot to discuss goals, style, location, and wardrobe. Be honest about what you’re hoping to achieve—whether it’s a natural look, something dramatic, or just “I want to look like myself, but better.”
2. Outfit Planning
Choose outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. Avoid busy patterns or logos unless they’re part of your brand. Bring a few options if you’re unsure!
3. Grooming & Self-Care
Get a good night’s sleep, stay hydrated, and take care of any grooming needs (haircuts, nails, etc.) a few days before. If makeup is part of your shoot, decide whether you’ll do it yourself or hire a pro.
Day of the Shoot
1. Arrival & Setup
You’ll arrive at the location—studio, outdoor spot, or your chosen venue—and get a quick rundown of the plan. I will set up lighting, test angles, and make sure everything’s ready.
2. Posing & Direction
Don’t worry if you’ve never posed before. My goal is to make sure you're comfortable and I will guide you through flattering angles, natural expressions, and how to move. You’ll hear things like “chin down,” “soft smile,” or “relax your shoulders”—it’s all part of the magic.
3. Breaks & Adjustments
Photo shoots aren’t nonstop action. You’ll take breaks, review shots, and maybe tweak your outfit or hair. It’s a collaborative process, and your comfort is my priority.
After the Shoot
1. Editing & Delivery
Expect a turnaround time of anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. Edited photos will be polished but still true to you—think blemish removal, color correction, and light retouching.
2. Sharing & Feedback
Once you receive your final images, you’re free to share them, print them using my website, or use them however you like. And if you loved the experience, let me know! Referrals and reviews go a long way.
